February cont...

Next event in Feb - Baker Banked Slalom. Funnest event ever, been the last 3 years but this was the first year competing. Rode on the Full Sail team, thanks Joe.

Though fun, the event is nerve racking. No pressure, just peers. The who's who is there plus all your friends, all you have to do is not fuck up and make it to Sunday.

Im in the older ams category which goes dead last each day, just when the course is in prime condition...not. Friday qualifiers went fine, first time competing, pretty stoke with how I did.

Though the photo doesn't show, I did qualify on Friday. Not sure what happened but I didn't ask questions...I'll take it.

I must be doing something right cause Blue was waxing my board for me. Got some crazy wax from Darrin Rhalves, shit was fast.

Saturday - practice/freeride runs...

Sunday - Most were saying gnarliest course they'd ever seen, I wouldn't doubt it. Six foot vertical ice walls. Again older ams go last, when the course is the hardest and the weather starts to roll in.

Run 1 - blow up on what should be an easy turn. Caught the inside edge, shot me out of the track...DQ

Ok don't do that again, you got it. Stay low, stay powerful.

Run 2 - blow up again, turn 7, the one everyone was talking about...DQ. Fuck, im out. Well there's always next year...

Didn't feel bad though cause Travis Rice DQ'd his runs too...
Coolest thing all weekend was Kevin Pierce getting back on the stick and running the course. Soon as he dropped the starting deck went wild. Pretty damn awesome.

Starting from February

Well it looks like I haven't really posted anything since January of this year so we'll highlight the year starting in February. Highest highs and lowest lows I've ever had in my life have gone down in 2012 and it aint even over yet. The only recollections I have are through photos in my phone but that's pretty much how I remember everything anyway...

Head & the Heart @ Stevens.
Easily one of the best shows I've ever seen cause it was so intimate and I had my hand in setting it all up.

Their last song was in the stairtower. The band liked the acoustics in there so they had the entire concert move there for an acoustic version of Rivers & Roads. About 50+ people crammed in the ugliest part of the base area. The guy running the rope tow, shut it down and came over cause he thought there was a fight or some shit going down.

My lady in front with the band, Cory Rain in the middle left, and some rando big guy on the right...

Listen to the entire set HERE, with commentary by Isaac from KOHO outa L-town.

Back to blogging

I've realized I don't blog much (at all) anymore. I will be doing it more from now on. I'm writing it down to hold myself accountable...
